October.  a TRUE Texas can not WAIT for this time of the year.  What does October mean in Texas? The State Fair of Texas is in town!  So, what does the State Fair of Texas bring?! Food…and LOTS OF it, FRIED and HOT!  It’s literally a Fried Food Paradise, if you’re on any kind of diet, it goes down the drain, FAST!

Every year, there’s a contest, The Big Tex Choice Awards and what this consists of is awards for the best tasting, most creative foods among fair concessionaires.  I look forward to it every year because these awards determine what I will be putting on my “To Eat” List (don’t judge me LoL).

This year, the Most Creative was The Fried Thanksgiving Dinner and the Best Tasting was the Deep Fried Cuban Roll.  I just check my phone and I don’t have not ONE picture of either one of them, I’m so upset at myself.  I probably deleted them when my phone storage was low, DAMN IT!

So, let’s get to the goodies that I DID take pictures of.  I mean, who doesn’t want to see pictures of food?! Who doesn’t want to look at a pic and automatically their mouth drools?!  Pictured above is the Fried Spaghetti & Meatballs, Fried Chicken & Waffles (on a stick) and just one of my favorites, the Fried Shrimp & Grits.  The mixture of the sweet & savory, then on top of that, it’s FRIED…oh you can’t get ANY better than that!

FRIED SPAGHETTI & MEATBALLS *thinks back & mouth starts to water*

The combination of well-seasoned ground beef, savory, melted cheese and the piping hot marinara sauce covering the meatballs…it was just the BEST!  I recommended it to everyone that I knew was going to the Fair and the best part was that it was big enough to split with up to three people!

Every year when I leave the State Fair, I always think, what else could be fried? What could I come up with?  Because whenever I hear of the awesome creations every year, I think, “Why didn’t I think of that?!” Don’t be surprised if you see me, or my brother, ONE YEAR, in competition at The Big Tex Choice Awards *big smile*
